Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre organises five events under its ‘We Read for Children’ initiative

The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), under the umbrella of the Kalima Reading Club, is organising five events as part of its ‘We Read for Children’ initiative from 7 October to 28 November 2026, at the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Gracia Farm.

The events combine Arabic storytelling sessions with creative workshops to nurture children’s passion for reading and knowledge.

As part of the Community Campaign to Support Sustainable Reading the initiative is aimed at children aged 6 to 12 and will present selected stories from the Centre’s Esdarat programme and Kalima Project for Translation. The accompanying activities allow children to interact with stories and characters; express their ideas through dialogue, participation, and hands-on practice; and develop their listening, expression, and creativity skills.

His Excellency Saeed Hamdan Al Tunaiji, Executive Director of the ALC, said: “The ‘We Read for Children’ initiative is a core part of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre’s philosophy of human development. It embodies a sustainable investment in human capital that begins in early childhood, aiming to safeguard cultural identity, advance the Arabic language, and nurture a generation that is aware, equipped with the tools of the future, and capable of channelling its imagination towards creative horizons.”

“The initiative thus evolved into a strategic arm that helps shape the future and ensure that Arabic remains present in the minds of today’s children and tomorrow’s leaders,” H.E. Al Tunaiji added. “This, in effect, further cements Abu Dhabi’s role as an intellectual and cultural capital, as well as a beacon of knowledge for future generations.”

The October programme included two sessions at the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi on 7 and 10 October, while the Louvre Abu Dhabi will host author Dr Fatima Al Mazrouei for a reading session on 31 October. The events will continue at Gracia Farm on 15 November, followed by another session at the Louvre Abu Dhabi on 28 November.

These various venues offer children and their families an opportunity to experience reading alongside cultural and natural activities outside of the usual setting. By bringing stories and discovery together, museums and community spaces present books as a gateway to both knowledge and enjoyment. This strengthens children’s love of reading and deepens their connection to the Arabic language, in line with the principles of the ‘Year of Family’.

The new edition of the ‘We Read for Children’ initiative reflects the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national and cultural identity, empower the Arabic language, and ensure knowledge reaches all segments of society. In doing so, it advances the UAE’s strategic vision to build a cohesive society with a deep connection to the Arabic language and a firm commitment to sustainable development.
