An ambitious initiative by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, launched in 2007 by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to revive the translation movement in the Arab world and support the vibrant cultural activity in Abu Dhabi.

Kalima also seeks to promote dialogue, openness, and tolerance among people by building cultural and civilizational bridges. It strives to translate works from various living languages into Arabic to expand the Arabic library and provide a wider range of options for Arab readers in all knowledge fields.
