On Wednesday, November 6th, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) took part in the second edition of the "People of Determination Week" initiative, organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi. This year’s event was held at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, under the theme "In One Place".
The ALC’s participation aimed to bring students involved in the initiative closer to the Arabic language through a variety of sensory, visual, and physical activities.
The ALC’s contributions included four main sections, combining art, music, and reading. Among the highlights was an interactive reading session for children using a puppet theatre, featuring a reading of "The Tiger Asks", published by the Kalima Translation Project. This session was led by Shamsa Al Derei from the Marketing and Communications Department, with Khawla Al Marzouqi from the Corporate Communications Office handling the puppetry.
The physical activity and mind games section included a range of physical and mental exercises based on the Arabic language, presented by Hafsa Al Busaidi from the Corporate Communications Office.
In the music section, there was an interactive musical session that included a rendition of the UAE national anthem, educational songs about the Arabic alphabet, and selections from classic children’s songs. This was led by singer and oud player Suleiman Noor, who encouraged children to sing along and showcase their talents.
The ALC’s presence also featured a photography corner, where visitors could enjoy having their photo taken as a memento of their attendance and participation in the event, with a card featuring them alongside popular cartoon characters and Arabic alphabet letters.
The initiative also included creative workshops presented by the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Zayed National Museum, the Abu Dhabi Children’s Library, the Arabic Calligraphy House, the House of Oud, and the House of Artisans. Additionally, there was a space for displaying and selling products made by people of determination.
