The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair announced the winning schools of the competition organised in its 32nd edition. The Fair places great attention on organising a myriad of events and activities for both children and adults, reflecting the organisers' commitment to advancing the cultural revolution embraced by the UAE and transforming it into reality. This is achieved through a focus on nurturing a generation armed with knowledge, enriching the experiences of children while unleashing their undiscovered potential.
This year, the Fair hosted a competition for schools with an aim to deepen the involvement of students, parents, and teachers, expanding its activities beyond hosting authors and exhibiting books, and activating the participation of local communities and institutes. Students received a golden opportunity to innovate and have fun at the same time, as the Fair paid them a visit to their homes and schools.
Childhood and Excellence
Participating students presented their own understanding of the Fair’s three main themes. Their contributions revolved around "Ibn Khaldoun" as the Focus Personality of ADIBF’s 32nd edition, the Republic of Türkiye as the Fair’s Guest of Honour, and the notion of sustainability. Their works varied between presentations, videos, and drawings, as well as theatrical performances and research projects.
A Well-Deserved Recognition
Submission for the competition resumed until the launch of the Fair on Monday, May 22, 2023. 33 schools from both the private and government sectors distributed across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra registered their participation.
The judging committee relied on several criteria in its evaluation and selection process, including the number of participating students, the number of benefiting students, as well as the innovation behind each idea. A number of schools in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Gharbia region were awarded the competition prize.
In Abu Dhabi, the winners included Virginia International Private School, Al Nahda International Private School for Girls, Royal American Private School, Summit International Private School, Al Shorouq Private English School, Al Maha Government School for Girls, Al Dhabiania Private School, Family Development Foundation, and Al Rayan International Private School.
From Al Ain, Al Bayraq School for Educational Partnerships was announced as a winner, while from the Gharbia region, Baya Primary School claimed the win.
This event serves as the starting point for several other activities planned by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, which will be gradually held throughout the year in local exhibitions and the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. It is part of the Fair's efforts to expand the scope of its activities and enhance communication and engagement with local community institutions. The 32nd edition of the Fair is the largest in its history in terms of exhibition space, number of participants, and a packed schedule of cultural, literary, educational, and artistic events, surpassing a total of two thousand activities.
