Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre takes part in Sharjah Literature Festival 2026

The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) participated in the second edition of the Sharjah Literature Festival 2026, organised by the Emirates Publishers Association in collaboration with the Sharjah Book Authority.

 

The Festival was held at University City Hall Square in Sharjah from 5 to 11 January 2026, under the theme ‘A Community Woven by Tales’.

 

At pavilion No. 29, the ALC is showcased more than 105 publications from its various initiatives for visitors interested in literature, thought, and creativity. These included works from the Centre’s Kalima Translation Project , Esdarat project, and Basaer (Insights) series of research papers and studies, covering various fields of knowledge, with an emphasis on literature in its various forms.

 

The Festival featured a range of activities, including the book fair, which brought together 42 local publishing houses, along with panel discussions on topics ranging from ancient civilisations and world literature to children’s literature, the arts, and video games. The programme also included events aimed at reviving poetry evenings in both classical Arabic (Fus’ha) and the Emirati dialect.

 

Moreover, the agenda offered workshops and dedicated creative spaces showcasing handicrafts, in an effort to revitalise the UAE’s heritage and pass it on to future generations.
