A Delegation from the Specialized Libraries Department Visits Bibliotheca Alexandrina to Learn about Best Practices in Technical Operations and Library Systems

A delegation from the Specialized Libraries Department visited the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) in the Arab Republic of Egypt to learn about the best practices in the field of technical operations and library systems. This visit is part of an ongoing effort to enhance cooperation and exchange of expertise between leading knowledge institutions in the region.

 

The visit began with a comprehensive tour of the BA's facilities, highlighting how the Library applies the latest technologies and innovative solutions to manage technical knowledge resources, as well as introducing modern library systems for collection and asset management, and the classification and management of rare books and manuscripts.

 

One of the highlights of the visit was an in-depth look at the restoration and treatment of rare books and old manuscripts. The BA experts explained the advanced methods used to conserve these precious materials, including the use of modern restoration techniques and special materials that ensure the longevity of manuscripts without compromising their original quality.

 

The visit also included a session with a group of BA technicians and experts to discuss various related topics, including the development of smart library systems and digital archiving strategies. The delegation reviewed the innovative technical solutions implemented by the Library to enhance the visitor experience and facilitate access to information.
