In implementation of the Cabinet's decision to designate March as the national Reading Month in the UAE, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) organises several programmes and events aimed at promoting a culture of reading.
The workshops hosted as part of the programme promote reading and writing among target audiences of all ages. While several creative workshops are organised with a focus on adults, other interactive and fun events are aimed at children and adolescents. These children-centric workshops host children's story writers to read their stories and create a climate of interaction with children, by encouraging them to follow the right approaches to reading. This is in addition to a series of accompanying events and competitions are also conducted on calligraphy, including the writing, reading, and enunciation of letters.
Seminars and lectures are also organised to celebrate Arab women on International Women's Day, which falls in March, and host Arab women writers and creators from all fields of literature, language, publishing, and creative writing.
