ADIBF Welcomes Arab and International Officials and Diplomats

The 32nd edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), a part of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT), drew a remarkable array of officials and international diplomats. These esteemed guests distinguish ADIBF as a global nexus of knowledge, fostering cultural harmony, and serving as an intellectually vibrant hub that enhances knowledge for humanity's betterment and contributes to sustainability and peaceful coexistence.

In a noteworthy visit, Hayat Katat Al Garmazi, the Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs, along with Moez Benmime, the Tunisian Ambassador to the UAE, toured the Fair and paused at the pavilion dedicated to Ibn Khaldun, a unique historical figure born in Tunisia and honoured as the Focus Personality in this year’s edition. As a keynote speaker in two important sessions on Ibn Khaldun, Al Garmazi represented the Tunisian Republic at ADIBF’s 32nd edition. Her visit coincides with the Emirati-Tunisian project of renovating Ibn Khaldun's house in Tunis's old city, where he was born and raised, as well as the Quba Mosque where he received his initial education. This project underscores efforts aimed at highlighting the Arab and Islamic heritage and illustrates the UAE’s pioneering global approach to preserving the world's tangible and intangible heritage.

H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the UAE, visited ADIBF as well. The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, took part in the Fair, showcasing a plethora of publications from various government and private institutions and civil society organisations, signifying the deep and enduring cultural ties between the two fraternal countries. The Turkish ambassador, Tugay Tuncer, also paid a visit to ADIBF, where The Republic of Türkiye was recognised as the Guest of Honour in this year’s edition. The visit demonstrated the strength of the cultural relations between the two nations and unveiled a multitude of opportunities for robust partnerships between publishers, distributors, and cultural and artistic sectors in both countries.

Other ambassadors in the UAE, including Pakistani Ambassador Faisal Tirmizi, Romanian Ambassador Bogdan Octavian Badica, Shri Amarnath Ashokan, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of India, and Mohammad Lari – Officer of Cultural Diplomacy at the Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, also visited the Fair and toured its corners and activities.
