The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), in collaboration with Louvre Abu Dhabi, organised a concert by Egyptian singer and composer Mohamed Mohsen on 20 December 2025. Titled ‘Melodies of a Golden Age’, the concert was part of the museum’s ‘Mamluks: Legacy of an Empire’ exhibition, which runs until 25 January 2026.
Conducted by maestro George Kolta, the performance drew a discerning audience and featured an elegant repertoire, including works in Modern Standard Arabic (Fus’ha). Mohsen delivered a distinctive and moving experience that bridged past and present, introducing audiences to a genre of music with its own special charm.
The concert resonated with the ‘Mamluks: Legacy of an Empire’ exhibition, which showcases more than 270 exceptional artworks and celebrates the artistic and cultural legacy of the Mamluk era (1250-1517AD). The exhibit highlights the period’s contributions to politics and diplomacy, trade, and art in its various forms, reflecting the enduring impact of Mamluk masterpieces.
Mohamed Mohsen began his career in 2011 with performances of a wide range of popular songs. In 2012, he released his debut album ‘El Laff Fe Shawareek’ (Wandering Your Streets). Soon after, he delved deeper into composition, releasing songs widely loved by audiences, including songs in Fus’ha.
Mohsen has participated in various Arab music festivals and released new albums that earned him the Jury Award for Best Rising Arab Singer at the Jordan Awards. Additionally, he won the Audience Award in Al-Ahram newspaper’s annual poll several times.
The multitalented Egyptian artist has combined acting and singing, notably in the television series ‘Zay El-Ward’ (Like Roses), through which he released a collection of songs. He has appeared in musical drama productions, including a play titled ‘Hekayat En-Nas fi Thawret 1919’ (Stories of the People in the 1919 Revolution) at the National Theatre in Cairo, and ‘Layla min Alf Layla wa Layla’ (A Night from One Thousand and One Nights), inspired by the celebrated heritage classic, alongside renowned actor Yehia El-Fakharany.
