The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) is participating in the 47th Kuwait International Book Fair, organised by the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters in Kuwait, from 20 to 30 November 2024.
The Centre is set to present more than 400 titles at the Fair, including 60 debut titles from the Kalima Translation Project, which was launched with the aim of reviving the translation movement in the Arab world. The ALC will also showcase publications from its Esdarat initiative, which comprises a list of publications from the past 50 years, updated annually in an effort to serve as a national reference for future research and global translation.
The titles on display will also include works from the Basaer (Insights) series of research papers and studies, which is dedicated to publishing books that have received grants from the ALC’s Research Grants programme, designed to advance scholarly research into the Arabic language and various related fields.
The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre is participating in the Fair in an effort to connect with publishers and authors, gain insight into other well-established institutions’ cultural and literary experiences, and explore opportunities for collaboration and development. It also aims to support cultural movement, share the Centre’s expertise, and highlight its pioneering experiences, publications, projects, and initiatives.
The Centre is committed to participating in the Kuwait International Book Fair every year, given the event’s cultural significance and influential role in the Arab cultural scene. The Fair provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of the Arabic language, promote a culture of reading among younger generations, provide a prominent platform for cultural exchange, and build relationships based on knowledge and creativity.
This year’s Fair will feature a wide range of seminars, panel discussions, and workshops, along with a programme dedicated to developing skills and expertise of Arab publishers, spotlighting the latest technologies in publishing, and addressing the main challenges and developments facing the industry, including cost, productivity, quality, content, and marketing.
