In collaboration with the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre and local statistical centres, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre conducts the "Arabic Language" survey in order to gain a clear understanding of the Arabic language in UAE society and to study the general impression of the Arabic language as a language of knowledge, culture, and creativity.

The survey targets Arab nationals or foreigners who speak Arabic, as well as males and females in Emirati culture, in 3 age groups: individuals aged 18 and up, university students aged 18 and up, and school students aged 10 to 18.

The "Arabic Language" survey aims to measure the percentage of the population who speak Arabic and use it in their social interactions, assess the extent to which community members are proficient in the Arabic language, whether native or non-native and understand perceptions about the Arabic language in society, in addition to enhancing the status of identifying the tendencies of using the Arabic language in society.

The "Arabic Language" survey aligns with the goals of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre to pioneer the Arabic language in cultural, creative, and educational fields, contribute to its advancement, increase interest in learning it among native speakers and non-native speakers, setting general policies for its scientific, educational, cultural, and creative development, as well as supporting research and studies and promoting the use of the Arabic language in scientific, cultural, and artistic circles.

The "Arabic Language" survey provides a demographic and social database for decision-makers in order to evaluate and develop programs related to the Arabic language in the UAE through a custom-made questionnaire for each group.

The questionnaire for school students focused on assessing the general and detailed use of the Arabic language, to determine the most commonly used languages during social interactions, whereas the questionnaire for university students and community members focussed on the general use of different languages and the impression of the standard Arabic language.

It is worth noting that the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre is concerned with encouraging the advancement of the Arabic language in all aspects of academic, cultural, and public life, leading research and language development efforts, and the active support for research, knowledge transfer, creativity, authorship, translation, and publishing.
