The Sheikh Zayed Book Award commemorates the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founding Father of the UAE, and his pioneering role in promoting national unity and development. The Award, and its associated accolades, are presented annually to outstanding writers, intellectuals, and publishers, as well as young talent whose writing and translation in humanities objectively enriches Arab intellectual, cultural, literary, and social life.

An academic specialising in modern history at the Tunis University, who has served as a visiting professor at the University of Murcia in Spain and a visiting researcher at the Centre for Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University in the United States.

Dr Khalifa Alromaithi United Arab Emirates

A pioneer in the science of National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) in the UAE.

Dr Mustafa Said Egypt

Author, musician, composer, and performer, specialising in classical Arabic music. He is a researcher in musicology and founder of the “Asil Ensemble” for classical Arabic music.

Frank Griffel Germany

Professor of Religious Studies at Yale University in the United States, teaching courses on the history of Islamic thought, Islamic theology, and Islamic philosophy.

Dr Reem Bassiouney Egypt

Author, professor, and chair of the linguistics department at the American University in Cairo. She previously worked as an assistant professor of linguistics at Georgetown University and as a lecturer of linguistics at the University of Utah, in addition to teaching at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge (2002-2005)
